The Walking Dead

Our little corner of pride

A slow-ish week this week, not too much to update with.

First up, I've finished the suburbs (x3 and looking quite overgrown!) and Tom's home tile. I spent an evening or so drawing up the suburbs in Fusion 360 so that took a little longer than anticipated. The 'Gentlemen of the Apocalypse's (GotA (anagram of goat?!)) tile came out quite well - the file Tom linked actually had the band as a separate section so I could recess it slightly and add a splash of paint for contrast.

The rest of this week's efforts have gone on finishing up the frame and getting it onto the backing board and the 8 river tiles and associated bridges that run across the map. Printing the bridges was interesting! For reference the single span arch bridge has a length of 15mm, is 5mm wide and the arch is 0.5mm wide and peaks at 4mm above the bridge deck.
As you can see in the pictures below, I've put them in situ on the board with some of the highways and a forest tile. I need to sort out where the remaining forest tiles and highways go before commencing the campaign. I've also added the current completed home tiles in some of the home tile locations (although not our particular staring positions) just to give a feel of the layout.

Here's this week's update.

Following on from the chats had on Tues, I finally had a little inspiration for the Gun Store (couldn't quite get the detail on the figure 11  but thanks goes to JAC and Mike). The farm was relatively easy in comparison. 2 of each have been done for the map.

The Police Stations (x3) have now been painted and as mentioned in the discussion thread around Special Locations and drawing inspiration from mid-size towns in the US, I've also done a football stadium.

To add a little more variety to the 'generic' tiles, some lakes (x2) and swamps (x3) were in order. Might have to come up with some special location rules for the swamps...

And finally for this week, 2 more home tiles. Just 1 left.... ;)

Tiles completed! Or very near enough. 128 of the things are all ready to go. I won't bother posting up the generic tiles I've spent the last week or so finishing but will leave with a shot of all of the home tiles ready for 'deployment' (Ray, following your request, I went as lurid as I possibly could for yours - I'm quite pleased with it :D ). Now looking forward to finishing up a couple of figures and maybe churning out a little more scenery for the actual game...

This is coming together so well. Another sterling job Sir.

My starting crew is now complete (no painted proxies!) as per the set up in the Campaign Thread. I finally managed to finish Tara this afternoon.

Had a little play with some tattoos (left forearm under the straps) - mainly to understand the colour balance. Learnt a few things about doing it which will come in handy on later figures.

The Whole Crew (let's just hope they stay that way and don't either get munched on or pin-cushioned again):

As promised, a few pics of the Campaign Board now that the crews have begun to branch out and explore the surrounding territories.

Although not as productive as Tom recently, I've managed to paint up another 3 Walkers (yay - more undead flesh!). These guys got their first run out in Mike and Tom's game a couple of weeks ago (apologies for the lighting - not brilliant, I'll have to tweak the set up in the future):

And just finished this last weekend in time for Tues clash, Vasquez. A renamed and remodelled version of Martinez (Laura from Here's Negan) - I don't really like the Martinez figure and was looking to balance up M/F numbers in the group so a simple figure swap and name change was all that was needed. And who better to name it after than everyone's favourite heavy weapons toting female marine from Aliens. Fortunately she had a similar effect on Sven's group on Tues - and didn't need to die with a grenade in hand!
I quite pleased with the way she finally turned out, especially as the mould wasn't that good and was particularly tricky to clean up.

I probably now need to get a few more Walkers done, identify who I intend to recruit in a couple of rounds time and also concentrate on some more scenery....
