Sounds like a plan - sorted.

I expect it will be the other way round. Dave has a game of mordheim to play, so I'll be playing kings of war followed by dreadball if that's ok? Fished my dwarfs out last night and started assembling the rest of them.

Could do, my only concern is I think Darkson has to leave early? If so I'll get my Frostgrave game in first. I think there will be one or two other Kings players around for you to play at the start. If the games finish quickly and Mordheim takes a while we may have time to play our Elves vs Dwarfs before your Dreadball game, if not then next week for sure.

Yep, need to leave by 9.45 at the latest (Gary's off work so I can leave a bit later).
If you'd rather do KoW vs Ray though go for it. I can either get a game of DB in against someone or just come down and watch a game or two, no problem.

It's a tough choice for me as I had such a great time playing Kings last time, but I do also really want to give Frostgrave a go. One because it looks awesome and two because I've already read the rule book twice and I want to practice using the rules while they are still fresh in my memory.

Frostgrave shouldn't take too long, so I may have a good chance of getting a Kings game in afterwards. If not, no worries, plenty of games to watch and people to chat to, and plus there's always next week...

Darkson one quick question about picking my Frostgrave warband. Is your wizard quite a high level? I ask because there seems to be no balancing or catch up mechanic for low level wizards. Would I be better off going Elemental to spam elemental bolts, to try and get as much wizard experience as I can quickly so I can match up to all the more experienced warbands? I'd actually prefer to run something more subtle (an Enchanter with enchant armour, enchant weapon and embed enchantment and a warband based around loads of boosted magic weapons), but I'm worried I'm going to get absolutely squashed early on with the latter. I think going with the Elemental list I might still have a decent chance of being competitive against a high level opponent.

Your first game will be my first game, I've not had a chance to play yet either, hence why I was happy to step out - what should be a quick game has lasted quite a while in the games so far as people get to grips with the rules.

So no, you won't be at a disadvantage. ;)

You are right on the lack of balancing mechanisms in the game, it's my one major concern with the game, and there have been many others online saying the same thing, with some decent looking house rule suggestions out there. I fear many wizards will end up looking similar with "magic missle"-type spells as it's the best way to generate XP, but Tom is loathe to change it to much from the book, so it's a case to see how it goes. We have bought in a turn limit though, mentioned in the Frostgrave section somewhere.

Ah okay, I thought you might be a veteran as you made a lot of Frostgrave posts on the forum, but good to know it will be an even match up. I'll pick a fluffy warband list that suits my high elves and should be fun to play, and we can take our time over the game and get the hang of the rules.
