I think the main thing our practice bouts yesterday showed was that you need at least some walls to make a lot of the movement shenanigans worthwhile. If your opponent is fatigued you want to have something to shove them into to take advantage.

I suppose until Dave goes crazy and orders an entire 3D amphitheatre, playing on the Spartacus board could work as a good arena space.

Lack of any decent models has kind of killed my interest in this.

Appreciate that only two of us have played before (me not being one) but initial thoughts on a starting Ludus’ composition?

How many gladiators should I be looking to buy when I start my Ludus?

With 100 coins I’m only fitting in 3 and that’s without any abilities. Should I be starting with 2 and some abilities instead?

Cheers

I've printed some traps and braziers, but:
a) the printer's ink is going, and as it's not ours and is going soon, we're not replacing, and
b) will need someone with a steadier hand than me to cut them out. Hopefully Gary will remember the guillotine that I've asked to borrow, will at least make the traps easy to cut.

Will do until Dave brings in a load of things he's made though. ;)

Of course, if you can find it, and are filling to pay quite a bit, the Playmobile Roman Arena: ;)

Are we carrying over our progress from last night to future games?

And if so, did we decide that we were foregoing the 5 coin entry fee for the second set of fights or not?

First one is up to you. I'm keeping mine, and i think Dave is too, while Tom is restarting (given he only has 1 gladiator left[!]). Not sure about Charlie.
If you want to restart now you have a better idea I don't think anyone will mind, and you won't be that far behind.

Paying I think we've said yes, I've taken it I was lent the 3gp I needed for the regional event, which came out of my winnings (so I finished with a total of 12g :( ).

Letting people pay entry in arrears out of the prize money seems more than reasonable. Nobody didn't win enough cover other than me right?
