Cool, I had a dig through my 40k box and I have enough Imperial Guard for a 500 patrol list I reckon.

Any chance you could tell me how much this rough list comes to:

Company Commander with no upgrades
3x Infantry Squads with Plasma guns
1x Leman Russ Punisher
1x Heavy Weapons Squad with Autocannons

The character change is good, it stops a loophole where character vehicles/monsters interact weirdly with the character rules if they have less than 10 wounds, and also allows light vehicles/monsters to shield characters.

squad + plasma = 55
leman russ punisher + hull heavy bolter? = 180 + optional sponson weapons
auto cannon squad = 51
= 341
You probably want to add a company commander (or other hq) which should take you to around 400 total.

If you want to play guard I can lend you a massive infantry army to fill out the list until you pick things up yourself. I'll lend you it on a long term basis until you don't need it so we can avoid the whole handing things back and forth cross contamination issue. I can't lend you the codex though as I only have the iPad version.

I think at least as far as club games are concerned, I am much more interested in playing crusade, which uses power levels instead of points anyway so less adding up of really minor upgrades and just play with the wargear as modelled.

That’s the eternal question for Guard players, how to load out your Leman Russ!? I think I’ll go with a Lascannon for the hull and no sponsons for now, I can tinker with the finer points of the list when it comes closer to playing.

Time to get building some tanks!

Have been looking at 40k stuff and am being drawn back in.....

I have some rules questions please:

Auras: Do these apply on a by model or by unit basis? By that I mean if an aura has a 6” bubble and a unit only has one model within the aura does the whole unit benefit or just the model in range?

Warlord Traits: Can you have more than one?
