Lycos, would it not have been easier to write what you
don't have?
Orcs are hard work, never sussed them. Fair play to you who do Orcs just seem crap. They appear to be all about boarding, but get no bonuses for that other than 5 crew on the hulks. Not enough.
Vikings are not much on their own Meant to be used as allies, not on their own, as they have no guns!
Empire is by far the best race Not sure I agree. They have massive power but can out maneuvered by the faster fleets (Elves and Brets)
Followed soon by Dwarves Definetly a good, solid, fleet. Not a massive battery of guns but they have solid ships. And underestimate the Nautiluses (Nautilie?) at your peril.
Brett's are fun by eck you need the wind!! Oh yes, you need the wind. A clever opponent can bring them to a standstill, but if you get caught in a Corsair broadside you will soon feel the power.
High elves were fun, under valued them in hindsight Move Shoot Move is awesome! But again if they get caught out by the wind a canny opponent should tear those fragile hulls apart. I've never seen the Dragonship rams in action, but on paper, if they can line a squadron of galleys (or the like), they should all sink.
Dark elves I rarely played. The power fleet of the core races. Severely overpowered. The Black Arc is
the most powerful ship in the game. With a 3+ save before the opponent even gets to target the thing and massive batteries of guns on all sides and it just gets worse if the thing gets to sail in between the opponent, knocking all their ships out of formation and then blasting in all directions. The Fortresses can float up to a squadron, making contact with one, shooting another, then ravaging the crew on the one it contacted. And the Doomreavers are just awesome. The only down sides is the one hit kill, but they have good saves on those locations, and if a crew gets killed by magic then disappear. Easily countered.
Can you guess which race I played a lot of?
