Build a 400 point list but you will only ever use 200 points worth of models.Grunts are regeratred when killed for free so don’t include any/too many in your second 200 points.

The only other bit to be aware of is that you can designate certain members of your warband as being part of 'The Retinue' which gives them some small bonuses for no cost.

e.g. One wizard on your 400 point roster can be designated 'The Archmage' and gains some dispelling power.

Where are you seeing this? It says the exact opposite under resolving casualties on page 138

So they die, then respawn?

They automatically die if removed from battle, but also get replaced with new guy exactly the same for free.

Having them regen would be essentially be the same effect as they don't earn xp, but this makes more thematic sense and doesn't risk breaking some other rules interaction.

It's worth remembering (as it's easily missed) you can only take a maximum of 5 of a particular model in a 200 point list. The amount of times that I have made a list that has 9 of the cheapest grunt in it is beyond measure!
