Malifaux Painting Challenge

Postby Dave » Thu Apr 19, 2018 9:57 am

After going into the attic and digging out what seemed like a never ending stream of boxes of unfinished Malifaux models I have decided that I am going to try and paint a Malifaux crew in 48 hours.

After some deliberation I have landed on Outcast Tara as my choice. I was originally thinking McMourning but he has too many summon models required, plus too much time consuming white to paint on him, Rafkin and two Nurses.

Tara on the other hand I think I can get away with quite a limited pallet of browns, blacks and greys which should help the process. On the negative side most of her Crew isnā€™t built.

The crew list will be:
Tara
The Nothing Beast
Karina
Scion of the Void
5 Void Wretches

I have a small head start by virtue of the fact that three of the Wretches are already built, but otherwise itā€™s starting from scratch.

And hereā€™s a pick of some of the Malifaux stuff I have.

End of day one. Finished the 5 Wretches and The Nothing Beast, half finished Tara and base colours on Karina and The Scion of Void.

I am quietly confident tomorrow will see a finished crew!

I was going to ask when this momentous event was happening, clearly I'm late again. Good call to steer away from McMourning for speed painting, especially with 10+(?) models to do.

Good start though and looking good as well, I like the green on the wretches. I though that you might even have had the smoke translucent set that could really speed up the Void Wretches and Nothing Beast - obviously not required!

Looking at what is on the desk, it's good to see loads assembled and under-coated. My backlog is still trying to figure out how to get out of the box... :(

Cheers man.

I have since discovered that Karina can summon stuff! So I need to paint a couple of punk zombies and guild autopsies. Fortunately I have them built already so one day next weekend will hopefully see them painted too.

Very nice. I like the look of Karina and the Scion of the Void - highlighting and shading black is always interesting. Impressed, especially as it comes in enough under 50 stones to allow for a decent cache and some upgrades. I'll be very interested to see how they play. Clearly I would have had to go for the Ressers version... 8-) ...but seeing you're about to paint up some punk zombies, your journey to the really dark side is almost complete.
