The biggest point of rules contention online seems to be the unclear respite rules. Are they compulsory or optional? Eventually ambushes become inevitable at every respite when you have two skills each, and how does that work with things that need a respite like resurrecting the Gryph Hound?
Here's what I'd suggest we play from reading the debates:
- Respite is optional.
- Respite related effects (e.g. Gryph Hound resurrection) happen before the ambush roll.
- The event triggers on your second respite opportunity in a row regardless of whether you took the first or not.
This does mean treasure searching/healing will eventually become impossible and that if you want the respite benefits you'll have to face a potentially inevitable ambush, but I think that's just the way the game ramps things up and encourages constant exploring.
