I love the idea people have that there's not going to be a point system. Just bring the same number of models and it'll be ok!! Alright, you have 20 cultists, I raise you 20 dragon mages, don't worry we have the same number of models so it's balanced!!!
Wolves, what wolves...

Just read some more of the rules and they have balanced the more models than you. If you're opponent has 1/3 more models than you, you pick an objective and if you meet it you major victory. For a starter game I am starting to think it is quite good.
But for old gamers crap. But then new gamers will spend money old gamers just play games. Financially very astute.

The only way to increase revenue later is to build games that link back but GW stopped their specialist games.

I think in 10 years Mantic may have the same problem with KOW unless they can generate games such as frost grave, mordheim etc to keep interest.

I just read the complete rules now that they can be found online. I think I can safely say I won't be going near this. The balancing mechanism is a complete joke. You alternate deploying units until one player stops then the other player can just keep going. If a player is outnumbered by more than a third then they get a bonus victory condition. This means, for example, that in a battle of one bloodthirster vs two goblins, the bloodthirster gets a bonus. If your opponent stops deploying when you both have 100 models on the table, you can then proceed to deploy 33 dragons and they won't get any bonus. I'm not sure how this is going to be fun for anyone involved.

Also the crazy rule that gives you a bonus if you won you last game is just ridiculous. Not as part of a campaign system, just generally, in every game. "Before I came here today I won a game against my 4 year old brother so I get to roll on this bonus table". Oh dear.

It may bring more people in with it's (relative to previous gw games) low cost of entry, but they won't stay. It's so full of holes that it is hardly going to encourage them to stick around and find a game worth their time.

What we've seen is clearly half a game, but it's also purely based on leaks. If it comes to release and this is all they have then no skin off my nose to write it off, but I find it hard to believe that there isn't more to this than we have seen.

Looks to me like a bare bones core set of rules that can now be built on with scenarios and other supplements.

Has anyone else read the rules? It really does have some great ideas followed by some god awful ones :( I think with some army limitations it could actually work as a battle game. Whether it gets any is another matter entirely :(

Staring contests and out of game bribes. It's all gone very surreal.

Now the full rules have been released, I can say for certain that I won't be playing this. It seems to be targeted entirely at an audience too young to have any amount of money to spend on it. I'm really not sure how someone thought this would be a good idea.
