Mike- can do a two player of that games workshop game if you want to give one of the story based missions a go now we've got the hang of the basics?

Good game last night, thank you Tom. I may have lost heavily in the end but at least I made you work for it :P

A lot to unpack, process and learn from that game. I've read my character cards again this morning and a few things clicked, so I can see how to better use them in theory.

It’s always so clear reading the cards outside of the heat of battle.

It was good fun indeed. For the interested I like to imagine exist, it was 1-1 after round 2 with us both scoring the strategy. 2-2 round 3 but mine was the strat and Brad’s was a scheme so in terms of scoring potential I was ahead. Then 5-2 after round 4 as I got both schemes and the strat. My second scheme was also the 3 types of marker one and Misaki obliged with a shadow marker I could use by punting a strategy marker toward it. I’d intended to make the third a scheme marker but then I got a lucky red joker and used a Torakage corpse instead.

Then we called it as it was 23:30. But as usual I was so into the game I hadn’t noticed the time at all.

I’m glad you enjoyed it Brad, I know my crew can be a tad frustrating to play against as they specialise more in interfering with your abilities than doing much damage.

I was going to ask what the score was. Good to see a 3e game in action. I'm surprised you went for Research Mission, given the way you were marching across the board I thought you might have had breakthrough.

Brad, good news on the upgrades front. I've got a spare set for the Ten Thunders so I'll bring them down next time we're both in.

Matt. As discussed while waiting to get into the hall, can you ask James how on this earth we are meant to get from the Objective Card 4 (New case file objective that came in the Wild Hunt Expansion) to the confrontation. All other Objective cards have direction as to when to discard down to the confrontation, but this one doesn't, and there isn't any clear or noticeable way to get to the confrontation. I believe the question has also been raised on BoardGameGeek but to date, no reply or clarification. Many thanks in advance.

Feel free to tell him we've played Hellboy for around 5-6 months solid (once a week) during lockdown, have gone through all of the expansions and a multitude of custom case files and loved everyone (pretty much) of them. Brilliant thematic game.

Having to spread to the two corners and contest the strat markers made pushing for the opposing deployment zone feel like a stretch too far. With strat and shadow markers likely to be scattered around, plus likely corpses, I reckoned research was worth the gamble.

Sounds like a good game.

Brad, what schemes did you choose?

Also, the Thunder Archer’s blessed longbow attacks ignore concealment (built in, no triggers required). Shoot that Doppleganger!

That would be great, thank you :)

I went after Research and Breakthrough - figured they might compliment each other. But got tied up trying to interfere with Tom's plans

I think i can outfox the false witnesses using shadow markers and one of my tactical abilities. so i might have found a way around that.

At least i took out the Agent guy.

Good to see everyone last night, sorry i got so caught up in our game that i didn't get a chance to come over and say hello, but it was just sooooooooooooo good to game again!

Good fun game with Dave, in which i had no models left on the board, but somehow ran away with 4 treasures, mainly helped by Dave's wizard being so incompetent that he ended the game on 1 wound, and (iirc) all self-inflicted!
Send help - buried under my lead mountain!
