Escalation league- a bit of colour

Postby MoodyGit (Gary) » Wed Jan 14, 2015 1:28 am

I've always liked narrative in my games so I plan to do a little 'reason for it happening' rather than two guys turn up. Please feel free to join in as this is what I really like most from gaming and it's very awkward when your going alone.

It's not full on battle reports, just a little bit of colour to complement the campaign. It can be how the game went, things you learnt or cinematic moments you want to share.

I've set up independently so we can keep lists, results and rule issues separate.

I hope to see your creative thoughts soon. 8-)

++ Sister Superior.
Our fears are justified.
I arrived at Out Station IV to find our noble sisterhood reeling from an unprovoked attack by our so called friends and protectors, the adeptus chapter named as the Space Wolves. The sudden arrival of my dominion squad managed to destroy their rear guard grey hunters. (objective 1 and 2 by killing a character and securing a specified objective)
As we were checking for signs of taint or a reason for this atrocity I sent our transport forward under heavy fire for any usable facts from the nearest info pick up. (I'm guessing they have WiFi :D ) (objective 3 securing a specified objective)
A brief recon showed no survivors so I ordered the retreat so it does not go unpunished. (objective 4 line breaker)

Upon reviewing the footage it appears our sisters repentia were gunned down before they had time to react in the courtyard. The Sister Superior (warlord) set up in the tower with the squads heavy bolter while the remaining sisters took the battle to the enemy in their Rhino. They set upon the attackers with flame and bullet but to their astonishment it was for nought, (Unit passed 20 out of 25 power armour saves before I could eventually destroy it :x ) as the feral beasts leapt through the smoke and cut them down.

Our valiant sister superior fought as long as she was able but she was totally out manned. Our search of the rear guard gave no answers but the raid appears to have been led by one of the wolves witches so a full investigation will need to be carried out with the utmost importance. Yours in the Emperors Light. Sister Michelle ++

Camera still taken from top of tower showing the wolves complete disregard for cover as they close in on their foes

Nice work, I like the panoramic picture too!

Got any pics of the immolator's interior? I liked what you did with it and you've inspired me to paint my Rhino interiors.

That's not an easy picture to take! I still am planning to get some Matt coat for the transfers.

Very good! Thanks for a fantastic game; I felt it was very cinematic. If I get chance I'll try to put the wolve's side of the story across if you like.

++Jarl Stormcaller, I hope you can hear me through the warp storm. We made planetfall three days ago on our great hunt as you ordered. At first the sisters welcomed us with open arms as we stood with them to help in their defence of this world. I had a strong lead on the fiend who started this atrocity and so I ordered an immediate pursuit from all of my packs. Then the ice cursed maidens of the church blocked us and refused to answer my vox calls!
The wolf stirred within and I ordered the advance to ensure we did not miss our chance to catch the infernal traitor before he could escape the planet. The foolish women tried to block me and left me no choice, I had to get past them...I cannot help but think this was another trap being sprung by the church to reduce our chapter's numbers. My time with Jarl Morkai's Great Company must be affecting me as I could only think of violence to reach my aim, I recognise my failing.
Still songs can truly be sung about the ensuing firefight; I only hope that I can live long enough to return to the aett to share them round the hearth! We captured the necessary objectives at the barricades to allow us to leave the city (2VP) and made it into the open countryside (line breaker) we engaged some sisters in a vicious melee after they tried to torch us with their flamers, but the strength given us by Fenris' ice and fire allowed us to shrug this off, and wiped them out (first blood). Towards the end of the firefight we killed the sister leading them (slay the warlord) we also gained valuable intelligence from items both we and the sisters uncovered (1VP) and broke their chainsword wielding psychopaths (1VP). In the process Varengi Nilson's pack was lost to sustained bolter and heavy bolter fire although the Grey Hunter known as the Falcon survived a long time only to be gunned down as he sought to destroy the Sisters' Immolater singlehandedly after the loss of the rest of his pack. A cunning ambush Jarl Morkai would have been proud of led to the eventual loss of Varengi Svenson's pack although the Grey Hunter Hafli survived an incredible time fighting tooth and claw with three of the sisters when they failed to gun down the whole of the pack. The crew of the Razorback Loki's Vengeance bravely returned after the firefight and recovered all of our fallen brothers. Several remain locked in the Red Dream but I have hopes they will recover. I must go now, this communion is straining me with the warp storm raging and I must consult the runes for guidance on the rest of this hunt. For Russ and the Allfather! ++

A good read, thanks both.

Couple of good moments in my game the best being my Praetor charging alone into combat killing two traitor marines only to be fisted into oblivion by a lowly tactical squad sergeant! Next time I will challenge him in an effort to avoid the same fate.
