Have car will travel

Postby MoodyGit (Gary) » Sun Aug 23, 2020 6:58 pm

These weeks lockdown adventure was a brief (read lots of Bank holiday traffic) soiree into darkest SW England to give Ray a game of Kings of War.

Expecting a normal sized game but he pulled out the stops with a very impressive collection of Miniatures. A good days fighting ensued and the result stated I won handsomely, though the game was a lot closer going right up to the end due to a random objective gimmick I quite liked.

Yes it's an eight foot set up.

Awesome, we had a crack at 6mm scale 40k Apocalypse yesterday.

I did my usual thing of forgetting the objectives and just killing things though

I only took one picture. We played on a 4x2 but in cm so equivalent to 10x5. We rolled on all the tables and ended up playing lengthways with one objective in the middle and one in each deployment zone, a bonus for psychers or killing them which we forgot all about, and an instant death condition of killing enemy commanders.

I lost a lot of stuff but won on objectives, partly because Brad forgot to leave anything holding his deployment one and partly because objective scoring is by unit quantity and contemptor dreadnoughts are all individual units giving me a bit of an advantage in the centre of the board where I had a large pile of them.

Should add this was about 500 points a side, which in regular 40k terms is about 10k. The game only took 3.5 hours. I would say the apocalypse ruleset actually plays better at this scale.

Very cool stuff and set up, especially like the epic scale!

Up for some titanicus at some point Dave? I've got about 4 million holiday days left still so I can pretty much take a day off whenever for a game if that's easier than doing a weekend.

Yeah for sure.

I need to dig around the attic for my AT stuff.

I reckon have a couple of the usual size games down the club to get back into the rules then do a massive game! Iā€™ve got two more Warlord titans I can add as well as more warhounds.

Sounds good to me. I'm up to date on the books now, and I got a couple of boxes of the new knights. Still haven't got hold of a Warbringer though, they are on back order and no idea how long it will take to get them back in stock.

Finally a second game in this uncertain time.

My turn to be the host for Simon and a game of xwing.

I would have taken pictures but I had lost 9 points of Hull on a ship before the camera had focused. Was a good game once I swapped out my dice but lost heavily and I believe I only managed to remove 1 shield in the end!

A rematch will be required. 8-)
