I've no interest in playing 40k, but skirmish level might pique my interest, but depends on how they bring out additional forces (I've got figures to do Space Marine so don't want/need to buy more).

Small model count, alternate activation, tactics cards, campaign progression. This is basically necromunda with regular 40k factions, and I'm not sure why we would play it instead?

Started looking good until I read the bit about further rules for existing factions in later books.

A brief look seems that the core races (given the confusing trademarked names) are in the core book?

There do appear to be unique tactics cards in each box though so you would have to buy the boxes of models to get access to everything

I might be wrong but it looks like the models and cards are also bundled in with terrain? And it's shadespire-esq in that some cards are only available in certain boxes?

They seem fairly frenzied with anticipation at Test Valley.

Succumbed and pre-ordered the core set.
If no-one wants to play at ARBBL there seems to be plenty of interest in the store.

I'm keen on getting something so I can join in the KT thing at Test Valley as it seems lots of people are in for it.

The no-nonsense list options and potential for very quick lazy painting have me drifting towards Necrons now. It helps that their box is a dual build kit for both their best units.

The potential hilarity of resurrection protocols helps as well! Kill them too hard and you just get a stack overflow error that heals them back to full.
