Will randomly select leagues.

Randomly selected by my darling wife the leagues are,

League 1
Gary, Oli, Jon, Mike, Sven

League 2
Mark, Ray, Tom, Dave, Matt

Russ replaces Matt in league 2.

So, I was reading the linked community edition rules about sustained fire (after our conversation on Tuesday). I think it's quite clear that each shot has to be resolved separately with the standard targeting rules and that you can't choose to split fire between a group (page 20 in red).

In this case, it's Sustained Fire and not suppressive fire.

The old rules you had to roll number of shots then allocate at least one or more to the main target then the rest to targets within 4" irrespective of ease of hitting. Effectively suppression or cover fire pinning your enemy so your colleagues can surround/move without being shot at when out in the open. Not quite grazing fire as some times used during ww2. This is more like a heavy machine guns role defensive.
The new rules state you can target models within 4" but as you have to follow the normal shooting rules you cannot select a more difficult target even if within 4" of main target unless you have got rid of the easier/closer threats first.
This is more like effective fire 2/3 round or single shot for which an American killed a VC using single shot at long range. This is more like leg patrol fire.
Discussion was good because we could then house rule between old and new.

But I think the newest is better for the gunners enemy as it means on average less of his force will be pinned by the sustained fire. Making a more fluid game.

Out f interest, are the CE rules different to the house-ruled Sustained fire we used in previous campaigns (which was roll to see how many shots, allocate targets then roll-to-hit separately)?
I know it no longer uses sus-fire dice, but the rest of it?

Don't allocate in new rules. You pick each shot

(Sorry to derail a little - feel free to move if you wish)

So I can get my head around it (I guess I'll have to play CE going forward :( ):

A is in the open and 20" away.
B is in cover and 21" away.
C is in the open but 24" away.

I get 5 shots. First one goes to A (no question on that one). If I don't put A Pinned(?)/Down(?)/Out my second shot has to go on A (and repeat). If I can move from A I have to go to C? And can only target B if I've Pinned(?)/Down(?)/Out A & C?

So it's more like rapid, target fire rather than spraying an area like the old rules (and our house-rule)?
