So, apprentices only cost 100g now but you only start with 400g instead of 500g to spend, point of that being?

After the obligatory apprentice purchase 300 doesn’t buy much, I think you’re going to need 3-6 of the free thieves/thugs models to make up for it.

Book looks good though.

Apprentice cost reduction is mainly for if you need to buy a replacement later in the campaign, makes it easier to afford a new one, especially when you've got some levels on your wizard, as you pay more as a experienced wizard than you do as a "rookie" one.
