Any of the starter box teams (human, marauder, convict, kalyshi) are probably a good pick. There must be a reason they are in the starter boxes.

Teleporting turtles were fun in the game I had with Matt on my first club night. Might stick with my BB plan of stealing Matt's lovingly painted teams and go with them if they're free.

I assume Matt's will be free. If not, I have some as well, so there is definitely a team available.

Let's keep it simple for new starting and go Orx/Goblins. Is there a team of those available to borrow?
