Anyone fancy trying Underworlds Arena Mortis?
The single figure free-for-all variant. 3 to 6 players.
Rules in brief:
- Two decks, one of upgrades, one of gambits, each minimum ten, no more upgrades than gambits.
- Three card gambit hand, upgrades are drawn when needed rather than held in hand.
- Play on a single board with one Objective in the centre (counts as objective 1 in case that matters), holding it at then end of a round gets you glory, killing someone stood on it is worth double glory.
- The board counts as yours, enemy and nobody's territory.
- Start with a number of upgrades based on your health (2 or less health = 3 upgrades, 3 or 4 health = 2 upgrades, 5 health = 1 upgrade, Mollog = 0).
- Start inspired.
- You can only play gambits on your turn (apart from reactions) but they can be played before your action.
- If you're dead when its your turn you respawn inspired (overriding cruel taunt etc) with all negative effects gone, gain an upgrade and then activate as normal.
- Usual four activations a round, and three rounds.
- Player order of activation randomised every time (i.e. randomise four times every round).
- You can use your activation to remove a charge/move token.
- You can only spend glory for an upgrade in the end phase. And then only one per end phase.
- At the end the winner is the player still standing on the battlefield with most glory.
Looks silly fun and hopefully once we have some decks made can be pretty quick to bust out at the end of an evening.
Ban list from the WD article (sorry Simon):
Quick Thinker
Infinite Riches
Time Trap
Further bans as suggested by Can You Roll a Crit:
Frozen in Time
Crown of Avarice
Expendable
2 of the Katophrane Relics
